Projects
HRD
Gateway is committed to community and business
development. We work with selected partners
on a number of regional and international projects. Our
experience includes China-ASEAN Free Trade Area
Development, Knowledge Asia Youth Network, and
ASEAN Training Network.
1.
China-ASEAN
Free Trade Area Development
China
and the ten ASEAN countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mynamar,
Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam are in the process
of forming a China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA). This will
create the world's largest trade bloc with 2.0 billion
consumers. Currently, ASEAN countries already
sell more to China than they buy from China.
The first China-ASEAN Expo
in 2004 attracted 20,000 businesses and 300,000
visitors. HRD Gateway is to share human resource
development expertise with CAFTA.
2.
KAYNET
HRD
Gateway and 11 other organizations signed a Memorandum of
Partnership with the National Information Technology Council
of Malaysia (NITC)
on 18 April 2002 to establish Knowledge Asia Youth Network.
KAYNET was established to strengthen regional
unity, peace and harmony in the culturally, socially and digitally diversified
Asia, via youths. It is an organized intervention that aims to bridge the gaps
between the digital divide through information and knowledge sharing among Asian
youths, facilitated and driven by contemporary ICT. KAYNET provides a virtual as
well as physical meeting place for youths. Youths from throughout Asia,
including other demographic groups such as senior citizens, are invited to
participate in and contribute to KAYNET.
3.
ASEAN Training Network (ATN)

HRD Gateway
received an official endorsement from e-ASEAN
Task Force in December 2000 to operate ASEAN
Training Network (ATN) as a pilot project in capacity building
and e-society. We
support e-ASEAN's efforts in the development of a broad and
comprehensive action plan for an ASEAN e-space and to develop
competencies within ASEAN to cooperate and compete in the
global information economy. The e-ASEAN
Framework Agreement was agreed on by leaders of the ten member
countries at the 4th ASEAN Informal Summit held in Singapore
in November 2000.
